I Wasn't Hurt. It Was Just a Fender Bender. Ever heard these stories: "I was in a car accident going 35 mph and rear ended someone, and I wasn't hurt." or " I was rear ended going 5 - 10 mph and nothing happened. I wasn't hurt. No scratches, no broken bones, the air bag went off and pinned me against the seat, but I wasn't hurt." I was wearing my seat belt so it protected me. Do these stories sound familiar? Is this denial of injury or lack of understanding how their brain got bounced around inside the skull disrupting brain function. The head got wrenched forward and backward in a whiplash, before the nerve system could react stretching spinal ligaments, the curve in the neck flattened out or reversed, disc's in the neck got traumatized. The spinal cord often gets pressured when the curve changes. Some peoples hands go to sleep on them or have tingling or loss of sensation. When the whiplash to the upper mid back creates a raised hump pattern, this disrupts breathing reflexes, cerebral spinal fluid to the brain and the natural nerve supply to the heart. Next the blood supply to the upper and lower body gets reduced, the digestive tract is deprived of normal blood flow as the body goes into a survival mode. The body shuts down functions that are not directly related to survival and the injuries go on and on. The sound of the collision transmitted crushing levels of vibration (sound levels) that can flatten the shape of an artery, distort the shape of internal organs, and lock the posture in a twist. The full force of this collision energy gets stored in the acupuncture system. But nobody was hurt only normal car accident changes. The insurance company totaled my car, but I wasn't hurt! The seat belt alone strapped across the chest twists the rib cage and makes breathing more difficult. The twisted rib cage then relaxes the diaphragm muscle which now allows the stomach as it moves up and down in the digestive process to get stuck in the diaphragm. This begins an acid reflux pattern. This begins reduced blood flow to the digestive tract and lower legs. Next, the rib cage presses on the breast bone and causes pressure on the large arteries that come out of the heart. This affects your immune system and the blood flow to your brain, arms, hands, stomach and legs. Some people experience chest pains when this pattern gets set up in the rib cage and think they are having the beginning signs of a heart attack! This story gets repeated thousand of times by individuals involved in car accidents who supposedly didn't get hurt. 95 % of all people in the USA have been in a minor to major car accident. The sad thing is they believe they weren't injured and find out later on that the little fender bender created more havoc in their bodies than they ever dreamed possible. The symptoms from the car accidents can show up immediately, up to 6 months later and even up to 25 years later. Why is it that people are in denial about the impact of a 2500 to 4000 pound vehicle slamming into their car transmitting the full force inside of the car? Ask someone to stand in front of a car going 5 miles per hour and let the car hit them with that little force. No way I'd get injured Wouldn't you? They won't do it. They know they'll get hurt badly. Yet being in the car gives them a sense of false security which allows them to get seriously injured. They will just have to wait a while until the break down in the nerve system become bad enough that they recognize the symptoms.. Yet nobody got hurt because some body parts did get traumatized. They didn't recognize the signs and language the body was using to tell them about the trauma that happened!.
Rib Cage Shuffle: Twist Again Like I Did Last Summer? The seat belt appears to be a safety factor. Sometimes there's a hidden price for this protection? The seat belt fits around your waist and across your shoulder and chest. When the car comes to a sudden stop like up against another car, the seat belt prevents the body from going through the windshield. However the seat belt doesn't prevent your rib cage from being twisted or torqued. This twisting action causes the rib cage and breast bone to shift in many different directions causing restriction of breathing and blood flow from the heart to the rest of the body. This can also give symptoms like carpal tunnel syndrome because of restriction of blood flow. Because the rib cage low around to the spine in the back this bowing action helps to flatten the mid back curve. Spine Lengthened = a Pull on the Brain The structure of the spine is a key issue. The spine ranges in length fro 25 inches to 35 inches depending on your height and build for really short people their measurements would be different. Let's say for the sake of discussion that the spine is an average of 25 inches long from the top vertebrae the atlas to the tip of the coccyx . Now lets look at what has happened in your history of events that may have changed that length, or twisted the spine, shortened it or lengthened it. The curves in the spine are for stability, strength, and flexibility. So this person comes in and has what looks like a nap sack on her back. What did this do to her physiology. What is happening in her life. She has digestive distress, bowel challenges, gains weight very rapidly, and also can loses it just as quickly. To the right is a drawing of what her back looks like. Notice that her curve is accentuated almost like a back pack is there. What would this tell us about her past. Car accident, falls, blows to the head, sports injuries, could be anyone of a number of things even birth trauma that developed over the years . So there are major cause here that have made dramatic impacts on her life. When the head went forward and backward in a car accident, or during many of the falls she had, the neck curve was stretched and twisted and now is much longer than it is supposed to be. The mid-back curve was also stretched lengthwise and then subsequently jammed and bunched up g her look like she is wearing a back pack. So what would these common things do to her body ? The neck changes would create a change in the blood flow to the brain because the little artery that goes up thru the vertebra is now in a stretched pattern that causes the reduction of blood flow to the brain. Next the mid back area from T3 -T8 is the primary sympathetic blood supply control to the shoulders, arms, and hands. Because the mid- back has been accentuated by changes in the spinal curve, there is a direct change to the front of the body thru the rib cage, sternum, clavicles, etc. The neck in an accident or fall has the neck vertebrae traumatized. The mid-back area from T3 - T8 supplies the nerves that feed the arteries that regulate the blood supply to the upper arms, the lower arms and the hands and fingers. Twisting, flattening of compressing the upper back inures shoulder problems. The mid back area has a series of nerves that communicate with the digestive tract. When these nerves get pressured because the mid back spinal curve has been straightened and flattened out, these nerves begin the process of degenerative effects in the digestive tract. In the early 1930's a medical doctor noted that when he found a nerve at the spinal level that had shriveled up because of abnormal vertebral pressure; where that nerve went into the gut, the organ associated with that nerve was severely degenerated. So the spine provides the communication to the gut from the head brain, and relays other factors affecting the digestive tract so it can be responsive to the needs of the rest of the body. The digestive tract is not isolated from the rest of the body but plays an integral part in the processes of life. As we begin the process of seeing the body as a complete unit all for one and one for all aspect of this magnificent body we have the power to heal much more quickly. Many authorities say that the Dowagers Hump is caused by osteoporosis. Clinically, the Dowagers Hump has been found to have been caused by the whiplash action of the head, neck, and mid back. This whipping action forward and backward, literally stretches ligaments at the base of the neck and upper back creating a bunching of the vertebrae, muscles and ligaments creating the hump appearance. It also flattens the mid back curve because the ligament got stretched when the head went forward in the first half of the forward whiplash. This has some serious consequences on the heart, cerebral spinal fluid, and restricting the breathing pattern. Special techniques have been developed to changes this abnormal structural pattern which ages people very dramatically. It dramatically affects the blood flow to the brain, the pumping of the brain fluids that nourish the brain, and aides in the oxygenation process to help the body stay more normal. What can I do? Often times when the head and neck are whipped around or forward or backward, the disc's in the neck and upper back can get compressed to one side. This causes the disc to resemble a flat pancake like structure that gets too close to the nerve and the result is severe pain, numbness, tingling in the arms, hands and fingers. This compression of the disc on the nerve has to be relieved. The damaged to the fibers of the disc have to be repaired to relieve the numbness and tingling in the extremities. . Minerals are the key factors in rebuilding disc injury along with lots of ice to flood the area with blood. The blood carries with it the bodies own repair kits. We have to assist the body with the missing elements that have leaked out during the injury and were absent before the injury because of nutritional deficiencies. The body can only repair with great speed when the basic building blocks are there in sufficient numbers to allow the body to have all it needs and then some. Then the body has the chance to heal properly.
Low Back and Pelvic Injuries and Hidden Problems Q. Where is our center of gravity? Q. Are the pelvis and lumbar spine affected by trauma
in the upper back, neck or skull? Q. What happens to the low back when there is trauma from a car accident, falls or lifting too much weight or from pregnancy? A1. In car accidents the seat belt is usually wrapped around the
waist and across the chest and shoulder. When the collision occurs at an
angle to the car the body is twisted subjecting the person to rotational
forces which injuring the chest, rib cage, shoulders, neck, skull and low back
an pelvis. A3. Lifting too much weight can cause the compression of the disc where they appear to be out of round or like a pancake. Some the fibers of the disc can have micro tears that weaken the disc. If the disc is continually overstressed after that, the tears can become more prominent and lead to more serious problems. A4. Often falls are looked at as though its no big thing. It was just a little bruise. One way of looking at a fall is if you had a computer and it feel from the same five feet high that you feel, would the computer still be working? So a fall from five feet can do major damage. A5. When a woman has a baby, the pelvis is expanded gradual and stretched to accommodate carrying the baby to full term. When the baby is born the pelvis is dilated to allow the baby to pass through the birth canal. While the popular belief is the pelvis will return to normal after 6 month, many women find that there pelvis is never the same. The brain has the memory of the the body before the pregnancy began. But due to complication at birth the pelvis gets distorted and never makes it back to it original position after the birth. These changes create disorganization in the brain and pelvic nerve control circuits. This create further problems that have origins in the trauma of the birth, early primitive reflexes, and other injuries that were never cleared from childhood. One of the ways of releasing this pattern is 1) to clear these old energetic disturbances locked in the acupuncture energy meridian system, 2) clear the traumatic postural learning pattern that got created during carrying the baby this includes a distortion of the walking gait because of the babies position in front of the mother, 3) clear the postural trauma of birthing, and 4) re-educate the brain and pelvis with new neurological programs that make both areas of the body fully coordinated and connected, and 5) reset the walking gait to synchronize normal movement activities. |
